The Nissan Leaf has been on our roads since 2011, and during all those years it has consolidated its place. What’s the secret to this longevity?
The Nissan Leaf is a compact electric car. Yet it’s roomier than many of its rivals. It’s agile in the city and handles well on the open road.
The trunk, which holds up to 850 L of cargo space when the seats are folded down, is voluminous and loads easily thanks to the good-sized tailgate.
Finally, with a length of 4,480 mm, the Leaf easily accommodates 5 occupants. That’s why so many people choose the Nissan Leaf.
If its size appeals to many, it’s also worth mentioning that the Nissan Leaf electric lets you choose between two types of batteries.
The base model (SV) has a capacity of 40 kWh and promises a range of 240 km. This first electric motor develops 147 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The SV Plus and SL Plus models are even more powerful, with 215 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. The larger 62 kWh battery gives the Nissan Leaf a range of 360 km.
Unlike other automakers, Nissan pursues the idea of offering a choice of electric motors, which is why green energy enthusiasts appreciate the brand and the model.
This multi-purpose car offers a considerable advantage for urban driving: the e-Pedal system. In fact, the e-Pedal system allows you to accelerate and slow down using only the accelerator. As Julien Amado points out in The Car Guide 2023, this system works like a charm.
“Unless you need to brake very hard, you can drive most of the time with just the right pedal.”
Nissan is undoubtedly one of the most innovative manufacturers, showing the world that it is possible to drive with just one pedal. This has been made possible by the regenerative braking that equips electric cars, an ingenious system that makes driving particularly pleasant.
On board the vehicle, you’ll immediately recognize that the ergonomics are well thought-out, with a number of effective buttons. The front and rear seats are comfortable, so you can get around with ease.
In this respect, the electric car offers soft, adjustable seats, and because of its size, rear passengers will benefit from generous legroom.
In short, the 2023 Leaf interior is user-friendly, ergonomic and spacious. Not only does everything seem in its place, but there’s nothing superfluous to clutter up the vehicle. The interior is practical and useful. It’s another reason why people buy Nissan cars.
While the Nissan Leaf range is attractive, it’s also packed with innovative features. On board, you’ll find an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, USB ports, Nissan Connect navigation with voice recognition, remote connection and much more.
As Nissan likes to emphasize, occupant safety is THE priority. In this respect, the 2023 Leaf can count on the ProPilot system and the following features:
In short, this electric car is technological and safe.
In closing, let’s quickly review the essential features of the Nissan Leaf for sale:

Over a decade after the launch of its first electric vehicle, Nissan is accelerating with an ambitious electrification plan. Learn more about these goals, as well as current and upcoming models, including the concepts that have been unveiled.
For now, Nissan continues to produce its gasoline vehicles, including:
As for electric vehicles, the brand currently offers only one model: the Nissan Leaf. Soon, you will also be able to purchase the first electric SUV, the Nissan Ariya, which you may have heard about.
However, Nissan does not intend to stop there: on the contrary, the brand is just beginning its green shift, planning 23 new electrified models worldwide, including 15 fully electric vehicles.
For now, Nissan Canada does not offer any hybrid vehicles. Given the plans unveiled by Nissan, this could well happen in the coming years with e-POWER technology. This system is a hybrid in which the electric motor is supported by a gasoline range extender, rather than the other way around.
Speaking of technologies, the brand also plans to evolve batteries to eliminate cobalt. This will reduce costs for the manufacturer and very likely for consumers as well!
The Nissan Leaf has been around for more than 10 years: it was, at the time, the first electric car marketed!
Despite increasingly strong competition, it is a car that continues to attract with its many qualities. According to Mathieu St-Pierre of L’Annuel de l’automobile 2023:
“Its success can be attributed to its pleasing style, choice of batteries, and interesting price range.”
For 2023, it has undergone subtle tweaks, the most visible of which is certainly the presence of new 17-inch wheels with a more avant-garde design.
The car offers two electric drivetrains; here are their technical characteristics:
Battery 40 kWh | Battery 60 kWh |
Power | 147 hp |
Torque | 236 lb-ft |
Range | 240 km |
Combined Consumption | 2.1 Le/100 km |
The electric vehicle subsidy still applies to the purchase of a Nissan Leaf, both federally and provincially.
It’s been a while since the Nissan SUV was announced, but this time it will be the right one: the Nissan Ariya will be part of the 2023 models. Due to the pandemic, production had been delayed over the last two years.
With its different version options, two choices of batteries (65 or 90 kWh), and the option to equip it with all-wheel drive, the Ariya adapts to all needs. Its range can go up to 482 km (Venture+) and its power, up to 389 horses (Platine+ and Premiere)!
While the Leaf remains quite traditional in its aesthetic aspect, the Ariya represents a new era at Nissan. The design is modernized both outside and inside, where technologies are honored.
Its large screen connecting digital instrumentation and the multimedia system, both measuring 12.3 inches, is one of the first aspects that one notices, but there is much more to discover! Find the electric vehicle for sale soon at your dealership.
At Nissan, electric vehicles will multiply in the coming years. The manufacturer already gives a taste of its next models by revealing four concepts:
Each of them will have distinct characteristics. The Chill-Out, for example, will be an SUV based on the CMF-EV platform and sharing some traits with the Ariya. The Hang-Out will also be an SUV, but more box-shaped. The concept even includes swiveling seats!
Nissan will also introduce its first electric truck to consumers with the Surf-Out, which should offer good off-road capabilities. Finally, the Max-Out will be a sports car.
In all cases, all-wheel drive is announced, appealing to drivers looking for stability and confidence on wheels. This also implies the use of at least two electric motors, announcing generous power.
Get the Nissan Leaf or stay tuned for upcoming electric models at your Nissan dealership in Saguenay near Jonquière. We also hold new or used gasoline vehicles for those who cannot wait. Looking forward to assisting you with your purchase!
Launch of the “Golf for Your Community” Benefit Golf Tournament in Support of the Equilibre Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Foundation for Children and Youth
We would like to draw your attention to the launch of the “Golf for Your Community” benefit golf tournament under the honorary chairmanship of Mr. Martin Gagné, Regional Director and Associate of Groupe l’Ami Junior, in support of the Equilibre Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Foundation for Children and Youth. Considering the growing needs of individuals struggling with mental health issues as well as those of the youth in the youth services of the CIUSSS of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, our two organizations have decided to unite in order to make a real difference for people in need in our region.
The goal is to raise funds to provide vulnerable children, teenagers, adults, and elderly individuals the opportunity to receive quality care in various environments supported by the Equilibre Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Foundation for Children and Youth.
This collaboration is highlighted by the continuation of the great movement of generosity and solidarity initiated last February with the large night luggage book collection. Indeed, all the dealerships of Groupe l’Ami Junior mobilized to collect pillows, cuddly toys, pajamas, and books for the young and frail patients across the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region. This campaign sparked a glimmer of hope in the hearts of many. Therefore, it was evident for Mr. Martin Gagné, Regional Director of Groupe l’Ami Junior, to continue their contribution through a significant benefit event that will allow us to continue our respective missions. For over 40 years, the Equilibre Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Foundation has financially supported projects, organizations, and institutions working in mental health to improve and develop quality services. The Foundation for Children and Youth financially supports projects benefiting the youth of the youth services of the CIUSSS of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, enabling them to develop life projects full of hope.
Thus, we invite the community to come and “golf” on August 11th at the Arvida Golf Club to support these children, teenagers, adults, and elderly individuals in need! 18 holes of golf will be available for players with various prizes and tastings of regional products. A dinner show will conclude this beautiful day. Tickets are sold at $200 per person ($800 per foursome) including registration, cart, dinner, and all the details of the day.

For 2023, Nissan is making several modifications to its Altima mid-size sedan. The images reveal an even sportier and more modern appearance, but there are also several changes inside.
Find out more about the new features and characteristics of the 2023 Nissan Altima, including its style, technologies, interior and engine.
At first glance, you’ll notice that the new Altima has changed significantly since its last model year. Its front-end styling has been reworked with an all-new outlook. Its V-Motion grille widens and extends to the bottom of the car; with SR versions, the grille has a distinctive black chrome finish.
At its center we find the new Nissan logo. By the way, what does Nissan mean in Japanese? While the name is simply a contraction of the first letters of “Nihon Sangyo”, the logo is mainly what interests us. It represents a sunrise, symbolizing modernity and creativity.
The Altima retains the aggressive shape of the headlights, but they shifted to LED headlights as standard across the range. It also added:
All in all, the new Altima is sportier and more aggressive than ever with this new model.
The changes are not limited to the exterior, since you’ll discover several new features when you open the doors of the sedan, particularly in terms of technology.
An all-new multimedia system floats in the middle of the dashboard, a 12.3-inch screen with improved graphics quality. It’s the same system found in some SUVs, offering faster response and a more modern platform. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can connect to it wirelessly! As a reminder, the Altima 2022 was equipped with an 8-inch screen.
With the SR and Platinum trims, we add as standard:
In terms of technology, driving assistance has also been improved: the ProPILOT system is now available on the Altima SR version. It’s an advanced semi-autonomous driving system that locates the lines on the road so you can drive without having to intervene.
Nissan’s 360-degree Safety Shield is standard on all versions of the car. It continues to warn you of potential collisions to the front, rear and sides of your vehicle, as well as pedestrian detection.
It’s not just the technology that’s evolving in the Altima; the design and fit and finish have also been reworked. According to Austin Irwin and Eric Stafford, journalists for Car and Driver:
“Interior materials vary among trim levels, but everything is a significant improvement compared with the previous-generation Altima.”
In particular, the SR version benefits from a new design with a double-stitched fabric. The dashboard also includes new finishes with a more modern feel.
Winning features like Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats, known for their optimal support and comfort thanks to their dual-density foam, are retained. As an option, you can enjoy leather seats and 8-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat.
The new model year returns with a familiar and proven engine: the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. This engine develops 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.
What’s even more interesting than its engine is its standard all-wheel drive, a feature that few rivals can boast of offering. With the Nissan Altima, you can drive with confidence in winter conditions or on wet roads.
That doesn’t mean the car is greedy at the pump, quite the contrary. Here’s how its fuel consumption figures, according to 2022 data:
Consumption | Altima | Versions SR/Platine |
City | 9.1 L/100 km | 9.3 L/100 km |
Road | 6.5 L/100 km | 6.7 L/100 km |
Combined | 7.9 L/100 km | 8.1 L/100 km |
